(More customer reviews)We received this vac as a gift two years ago. I can safely say I hate it with a passion. We have a two story home with hardwood downstairs and carpeting on the stairs and upstairs. We also have a dog who sheds a fair amount and two short hair cats. You're supposed to be able to set the vac to a "bare floor" setting and use it upright. This vac does not pick up anything with weight. For example, little broken pieces of dog food (not whole pieces) will just get pushed around. You might THINK the vac sucked it up only to move further and have the piece(s) fall back out on the floor. This happens to us all the time and we're constantly having to vacuum with the hose in addition to going over the floor in the upright position. Also, numerous times I've had something stick to the vac brush or one of the wheels and leave scratches on my hardwood floors. Not cool.
The ability to remove the canister/motor section to do upholstery and stairs is a cool idea. However, the upholstery/stair attachment gets clogged easily. Ours stopped working after only a month and we had to take it completely apart to find a very small chunk of pet hair wound around one of the tiny belts inside the attachment.
The canister is WAY too small. It's supposed to be a vacuum for pet owners, but it barely holds anything. I get one vacuuming session out of it before I have to empty the canister. This might not bother me so much if the canister wasn't a complete mess to empty. Hair, dust and debris get caught in the filter above the canister, so when you remove the canister all that junk falls out onto the floor you just vacuumed. If you have a lot of stuff stuck around the filter, you have to clean it out with your hands. VERY gross and messy.
There are too many filters/parts to try to keep clean and unclogged. There's the filter in/above the canister, one in the back of the vacuum, and one below the canister. I'm constantly having to check these and make sure everything is clean. Our indicator light says all our filters are clean, but I still smell dog every time I turn the vac on.
Lastly, it overheats. I cannot vacuum my entire house (2400 sq ft) without it overheating and shutting off on it's own. Once this happens, you have to wait for it to cool off before it will let you turn it on again, and wait time is usually at least an hour.
Save yourself the frustration, money and time, and buy something else.
